Livermore, CA  – Eric Swalwell, U.S. Representative to the 15th Congressional District is the featured speaker on August 22 at the Wine Country Luncheon hosted by the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“We are thrilled and honored to welcome Congressman Swalwell to speak to our members and guests,” said Dawn Argula, Chamber CEO.  “He’s been working within the vortex of politics, policy-making, and events at the national level, and we look forward to hearing how these play into the local, regional and statewide economy and how best to prepare for impacts, good and bad, to our businesses and community.”

First elected in 2012, Swalwell is serving his fourth term representing the 15th District in Congress.  He made headlines in 2011, challenging 20-term incumbent Pete Stark and winning the seat, becoming only the third individual to represent the District.  Swalwell was first sworn into office January 2013 and successfully beat out challengers for the office for another 3 terms.  His youthful perspective introduced a 21st century approach in the House of Representatives, as he employed extensive use of social media to increase communication and transparency to his constituents as well as his collaboration with other like-minded youthful members of the House from all political parties to produce policy to address common issues.   Most recently, in April, Swalwell announced his candidacy for President in the 2020 election.  But with an increasingly crowded field of democratic candidates vying for the office, he withdrew from the race.

The popular LVCC monthly luncheon, held at venues throughout the Livermore Valley wine region, wraps up on September 26 with the annual #LivValBiz Awards at Wente Vineyards and featuring former Assembly Member Catharine Baker as keynote speaker.  For more information and to make reservations for the luncheons visit www.livermorechamber.org or call 925-447-1606.
