The Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center (LVPAC) recently announced a new cultural event, Taste of New Orleans, to benefit its Bothwell Arts Center.
On Thursday, September 29, MOJO and the Bayou Gypsies will take the Bankhead Theater stage in the fun, high energy, authentic Southwest Louisiana Cajun and Zydeco tradition, as the live performance component for the Taste of New Orleans celebration.
Guests will enjoy a pre-show welcome party featuring southern Louisiana cuisine samplings by Cabana Dave’s Catering followed by a post-performance reception that includes complimentary champagne, Chicory coffee, pralines and other popular New Orleans desserts. This festive affair will take place at the Bankhead Theater in downtown Livermore from 6-10:00 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting the Bothwell Arts Center.
The new Taste of New Orleans expands on the success of the popular New Orleans Bash at the Bothwell, the Center’s signature Mardi Gras costume party and jazz music event, allowing LVPAC to reach a larger audience interested in a variety of Louisiana-style entertainment and cuisine, while making it possible to raise additional funding for the Bothwell’s community-based programs and educational activities. The traditional New Orleans Bash will continue at the Center every other year, with the next Bash set for Friday, February 8, 2013.
As the featured entertainment for the inaugural Taste of New Orleans event, MOJO and the Bayou Gypsies will immerse patrons in original Cajun and Zydeco dance beats of the Southwest Louisiana tradition. With electric performances that pull audiences to their feet, MOJO’s boundless charisma and the group’s infectious music guarantees an unforgettable night of fun. Tickets are on sale now and range from $35 to $65 plus a limited number of $80 VIP seats on stage with the band.
The Bankhead Theater is located at 2400 First Street in Downtown Livermore. The ticket office is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12-6:00 p.m. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 925-373-6800 or visit www.bankheadtheater.org.
