LVCC leadership was honored to be guests at a special ceremony on Saturday July 13, to dedicate the City of Livermore’s new City Council Chambers in honor of Livermore mayor, Dr. John Shirley. The 94-year old World War II hero and former Livermore City Council Member and Mayor (1958-66), Dr. Shirley and his family were on hand with current Mayor John Marchand and City Council members Carling, Coomber, Munro and Woerner and former council member Steven Spedowfski, city staff and Congress Member Eric Swalwell to cut the ribbon on the new Civic Center Meeting Hall/City Council Chamber building located at 1016 South Livermore Avenue. The beautiful new city facility replaces the 30-year old triple-wide trailer that served as the City Council Chamber. The new building is still undergoing installation of interior finishes, testing of technological equipment and landscaping before the official, community Grand Opening planned for this Fall.
